Overview

Agra-Lucknow Expressway is a 302 Km long 6 Lane (Expandable to 08 lanes) Access Controlled (Greenfield) Expressway with 08-lane wide structures for future expansion of the expressway to 08 lanes. The expressway starts at Agra inner ring road, passes through Firozabad, Mainpuri, Etawah, Auraiya, Kannauj, Kanpur Nagar, Hardoi, Unnao dist. and ends on SH-40 in Lucknow. It has facilitated a high-speed corridor, connecting state capital Lucknow to Agra in western Uttar Pradesh and further to the National Capital, New Delhi through Yamuna Expressway. The travel time between Agra and Lucknow has reduced, the reduction in travel time has resulted in substantial saving in the consumption of fuel and a reduction in carbon footprint. Interchanges for exit/entry into the expressway have been provided at crossing with major roads.

  • Use of Green Energy (Solar) for all illumination purposes.
  • Development of green belt on both sides and median of Expressway and rainwater harvesting arrangements.

  • Rest Area and Fuel Stations: -For the convenience of users of expressway 04 nos. of Wayside Amenities, have been developed at a distance of 75 Km & 198 Km from Lucknow at KM-227 & KM-104 and 101 Km & 218 Km from Agra at KM-101 & KM-217. Various facilities viz. Public toilets, Food court, Dhaba, Motel & dormitories for rest, Workshop and Fuel stations are functional at each Wayside Amenities having large parking areas.

  • 3 Retired deputy superintendents, 5 inspectors and 10 sub-inspectors of police are appointed on Agra Lucknow Expressway, through whom the resque works related to accident management and road safety are getting complited.

  • 20 vehicles with 200 security personals are deployed at expressway for round the clock patrolling of expressway and providing help to commuters. 10 ambulances have deployed at expressway in approx every 30 km for help in case of any medical emergency and accident. 10 recovery cranes / Hydra are also deployed on the expressway for assistance as and when required.

    • In addition to above , the police department has also deployed 19 nos. of "Dial - 112" PRV vehicles for patrolling of expressway.

  • For repairing of breakdown vehicle 10 mobile workshop vehicles are deployed on pay basis. User may avail this facility by calling UPEIDA helpline number. Issues which can be dealt with and repaired at the location of the vehicle are get repaired on the spot, however in case of any major breakdown the agency also has the facility to tow the vehicle and bring it to its nearest workshop or toll plaza of Expressway, as advised by the user.

  • An agency for catching and removing stray animals from the expressway has also been deployed by UPEIDA. They have been given 5 vehicles to transport the animals to the nearest stray shelter so that accidents due to animals can be avoided on the expressway.

  • Fastag facility is available at all toll booth of Agra Lucknow Expressway

  • Maximum Permissible Speed Limit for car is 100kmph and 80kmph for bus/truck and Bikes.

  • E-challan for the over-speeding, unauthorized parking and Wrong lane driving vehicles.

  • 3 Modern ATMS control rooms are established on expressway at Km 21, Km104 and KM 290 to monitor the expressway under the Advanced Traffic Management System implementation.
  • Mobile Application - “Expressway Mitra” mobile application has been developed for commuters. “Expressway Mitra”, like name suggests, is very useful for Expressway Road-users. The App is available for free for android and apple users. “Expressway Mitra” app has the following features for the road user:

    • 1-Over-speed alert via voice message as well as Text notifications

    2-Alert when vehicle is stopped on expressway.

    3-Information and route guidance about nearest facilities and emergency services.

    4-Incident reporting for accident, traffic congestion, road condition with image and category selection.

    5-Journey Planning, Travel time estimation and GIS based route guide.

    6-Toll fare estimation for the planned journey.

    2-Search for the Expressway Mitra app.

    3-Install the app and open.

    4-Enter your mobile number, system will sent an OTP.

    Procedure to Check E- Challan Status –

    First Step


  • To check the status of e-challan applicants need to go to the official website - https://echallan.parivahan.gov.in/ of E-Challan – Digital Traffic/Transport Enforcement Solution
  • From the home page of the website, you need to click the “check challan status” - https://echallan.parivahan.gov.in/index/accused-challanoption from the menu bar.


  • A new web page will appear on the screen where you need to choose “Challan Number” or “vehicle Number” or “DL Number.”
  • Thereafter enter the chosen information and then enter captcha code shows on the screen.
  • Click “get details” option and your challan related information will appear on the screen.

    • Second Step

  • Click on the Pay Now option.
  • Choose your desired option to pay your challan fine.
  • After the successful payment, generate the Challan Receipt online.

    Always do wear the safety belt and helmet for safe journey.-
    Always check the tyre pressure of your vehicle, Use Nitroge gas in tyres to avoid tyre brust. Nitrogen gas is available at Rest plaza's petrol pumps of expressway at Milstone KM 104 towards agra and KM101 towards Lucknow.
